Hey guys!

A couple days ago I went to see the new Marvel movie, Spider-man: Homecoming. Admittedly a little late  At the perfect time because there wasn’t anyone else in the theater. Going into this movie, the one question that came to mind was, “How did this one rate compared to the previous spider-man movies. Naturally, I turned to the internet for the answer.

First up is an article from Kristy Puchko of cbr.com, a glowing review bring to attention the very part of this movie that makes it different than the other’s in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “…director Jon Watts brings distinctive heart and humor to the MCU by keeping in focus what makes Spidey so different from the other Avengers: his double-life. Tony proudly proclaimed to the press he was Iron Man. For decades, Steve Rogers has been celebrated as Captain America,” said Puchko. She ends the article with a little praise for the director for pulling off the task of making a movie that fits in as an exciting summer blockbuster, but  not overshadowing a movie as big time as the Avengers.

Second is Daryl Deino’s article for observer.com, a review giving points to the obvious, being that Spider-man: Homecoming is one of this summer’s big hits, but pointing out that it doesn’t quite cut it compared to Toby Maguire’s second Spider-man movie from 2004. The conclusion drawn is that this Spider-man reboot has some trouble with certain story elements, “…it would be difficult to come up with a specific theme for Homecoming. However, the theme of Spider-Man 2 is clear from the beginning: With power comes great responsibility,” Deino said. Ending the review by making the comparison that this new Spidey movie, while not as good as the 2004 version, is better than Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Peter Parker/Spider-man back in 2012.

All in all, it seems this new friendly neighborhood spider-man is here to stay and to keep you laughing. From someone who has always been partial to Toby Maguire’s version, I give it an A.

Xoxo
